United Teachers Los Angeles Ends Contract with Coke
Resolution Passed by UTLA April 27, 2005
"HOR 4-27-05 Special Order #6: Moved that UTLA follow CFT’s lead and end our contract with Coca-Cola, which expires in the Spring 2005 according to UTLA Treasurer Alberto Valdivia. Rationale: During the past ten years, eight union members have been killed in Colombia for union activities at companies that bottle Coca-Cola. This has resulted in the destruction of the union local in Carepa, Colombia. CFT has passed a resolution calling for a boycott of all Coca-Cola products."
