Tools to Confront Power with Power

Dear Brothers & Sisters:
In my 30 years as a labor strategist and organizer, I have been involved in some of the biggest and hardest fought battles in recent labor history. During this time, I have noticed a disturbing trend: businesses and governments are attacking workers with more, and more sophisticated, ammunition.
In the 1930's, unions faced hired goons armed with guns and clubs. These days, unions face an army of anti-union professionals in three-piece suits and armed with briefcases. Lawyers, "management consultants," public relations firms, and scab labor outfits are today's hired goons. Union-busting is a multi-billion dollar industry and unions need tools to fight back.
In 1981, I founded Corporate Campaign, Inc. to provide labor with new tools and strategies to combat this new wave of union-busting. The name Corporate Campaign comes from the strategy I created in ACTWU's successful campaign against southern textile giant J.P. Stevens a strategy that is widely imitated in the labor movement.
Since its founding, CCI has been widely recognized as the nation's leading labor strategist. In the words of Farm Labor Organizing Committee President Baldemar Velasquez, "CCI has caused a revolution in how labor fights its wars."
CCI is best known for building national campaigns for under-dog unions pitted against giant corporations. However, CCI also provides a full range of services tailored to the specific needs of individual unions, including: research & strategy development, media & public relations, direct mail, and organizing.
As a union organizer in the 1970's, I often wished for the kind of support that CCI provides. The CCI staff offers skills and experience that used to be available only to management. As Dave Watts, President of UPIU Local 7837 (Staley workers), put it, "CCI has been a potent, faithful ally to this local. I'm sure glad they're on our side."
The past two decades have been bad for workers. Jobs have been lost, wages and benefits have been cut, and families and communities are suffering. Unfortunately, there are no signs that things are getting better. It is up to workers and their unions to find effective ways to meet these challenges.
CCI is here to help in that struggle for a better future. Please take a few moments to read about the services we offer. Then give me a call and see if we can work with your union.
In solidarity,
